BOOK LAUNCH OF FALLING IN TIME

On Thursday, May 10th, Vancouver playwright C. E. Gatchalian will launch his book Falling In Time. The evening launch will be held at The Junction and hosted by Vancouver author and comedian Charles Demers.

The launch will feature readings of excerpts from the play by the author as well as actors Kevin Kraussler and Nelson Wong, followed by a Q & A with the author and Sean Cummings, who directed the world premiere. Copies of the book will be on sale and the author will sign books as requested. Falling In Time is being published by Scirocco Drama, one of Canada’s premiere drama presses.

MFA Alumnus Dave Deveau’s play Out in the Open

Dave’s new play Out in the Open, commissioned by Green Thumb Theatre is touring high schools throughout the province before heading to Ontario this fall and then a US tour during the 2013-2014 season.

His award-winning play My Funny Valentine (2011 Jessie Nomination, Sydney Risk Prize Winner) opens in Dublin, Ireland this May and will tour parts of Canada in 2013.

The Vancouver Asian Canadian Theatre is seeking submissions

The selected emerging or established playwright will be offered dramaturgy for 6 – 8 weeks and a staged reading workshop in July 2012.
VACT’s Theatre Lab wishes to develop Asian Canadian playwrights and create more Asian Canadian plays to a professional level where the plays may be produced by VACT or with other theatres in the Greater Vancouver area.

Study Creative Writing in ALICANTE, SPAIN

This University of Memphis Creative Writing program held from June 3 to June 26 provides an exciting opportunity for students to study and practice creative writing in the culturally fascinating and historically important Mediterranean coastal city of Alicante, during the season of their fiesta of San Juan.

Program Cost: $1,845* The program fee includes the $350 study abroad application fee, accommodations, meals, inland transport, and student ID card. Fellowship available. DEADLINE: March 1, 2012.
